6.4 Magnitude earthquake strikes southern Taiwan

ALBAWABA- A powerful 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck near Chiayi City in southern Taiwan on Monday, January 20, 2025, at approximately 12:17 a.m. local time.

 The quake, recorded at a depth of 9.4 kilometers, was strong enough to shake buildings in the capital, Taipei, causing alarm among residents.

Despite the intensity of the tremor, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage. 

Authorities, including Taiwan's Central Weather Administration, are closely monitoring the situation.
