After years of severed ties: Kuwait welcomes visit by Palestinian leaders

Kuwait's Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah ‏‏Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah stated on Saturday that the Palestinian ‏‏leadership's stance on the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990 "is over."‏  Speaking to reporters, Sheikh Sabah answered questions on whether the current Palestinian leadership must apologize for its stance on the Iraqi invasion. It should be mentioned that the late Palestinian president, Yasser Arafat voiced support in 1990 to Saddam Hussein's decision of invading Kuwait.

‏Mahmoud Abbas is expected to arrive in Kuwait Sunday heading a high-ranking
‏Palestinian delegation after having visited a number of Arab states.‏   


According to KUNA, the Kuwaiti Premier welcomed the Palestinian visit to Kuwait. Abbas is expected to arrive in Kuwait, accompanied by Speaker of the Palestinian Parliament Rawhi Fatuh, ‏‏Palestinian Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nabil ‏Shaath and Finance Minister Salam Fayadh. ‏
