The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has raised the ceiling age for labor permit from 60 to 66 years in the listed 10 job categories, Emirates news agency (WAM) reported.

The new regulation was made public by the country's Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs.

According to the official agency, the top 10 categories to benefit include engineers, doctors, pharmacists, nurses, teachers, account auditors, lawyers, electronic machines operators, laboratory technicians, sports coaches, employees of private petroleum companies, journalists and media men, and consultants in all fields of work.

All employees of the above categories have to provide the Ministry with certified copies of their academic qualifications and expertise. The ministry also announced a Dh 500 fee on applications for sponsorship transfer renewals. The rules for renewing such transfers stipulate that an application may be approved within the first six months of the sponsorship transfer -- Albawaba.com
