Customs officials at the Beirut airport seized an amount of cocaine Monday from a man who had arrived from South America, the Finance Ministry announced.

The ministry said the man, who had come from Brazil, was found with 4.5 kg of the drug in one of his bags.

Customs have thwarted several attempts since last year to smuggle different drugs into Lebanon, primarily cocaine, since the launch of an anti-drug smuggling campaign.
