Anatolia-1 Satellite Starts its Commercial Operation

A ceremony was organized by Turkish Telecom on Thursday to celebrate the start of Anatolia-1 satellite’s starting its commercial operation. The satellite was made by Hughes Global Services Firm in the US, Anadola Agency (AA) reported. 

Robert Pearson, the US Ambassador to Turkey was quoted by the agency as saying that "Anatolia-1 satellite is a sample of the broad potentials of Turkish and American firms." 

Turkish Telecom has to support internet service between Turkey and anywhere in the world, Pearson said adding that he believes the US and Turkey can do many things together in information and communication fields.  

Turkish Telecom Director Generam Alpturk was quoted by AA as saying that "Turkey has three satellites in space," noting that it is the first time Turkey has operated a satellite in association with the US -- Albawaba.com
