A broken hearted Anne Heche was hospitalized on Saturday after she wandered up to a stranger’s home, reported ABConline.
Heche, who had just announced her breakup with Ellen DeGeneres is the one half of Hollywood’s most famous homosexual couple.
According to a Lt. Merrill Wright, Heche seemed shaken and confused.
She knocked on the door of the Central Valley home on Saturday and made strange statements to the occupants, added Merrill of the Fresno County, California sheriff’ office.
The actress apparently had parked her sport utility vehicle along a rural highway before walking about a mile to the residence, said ABC.
Authorities took her to University Medical Center, Wright said. But neither Wright nor hospital spokeswoman Mary Lisa Russell would comment on whether drug use was involved.
“She was sent there [to the hospital] without deputy sheriffs and there are no criminal investigations pending in this case,” Wright said.
Hospital records show Heche was released early Sunday after being seen by doctors for two hours. On Monday morning, the actress was on an Air Canada flight departing Los Angeles to shoot a movie in Canada.
The mishap takes place one day after Heche and DeGeneres, 42 confirmed their breakup.
“Unfortunately, we have decided to end our relationship,” the actresses said in a statement in the New York Daily News. “It is an amicable parting, and we greatly value the 3 1/2 years we have spent together. We hope everyone will respect our privacy through this difficult time.”
DeGeneres and Heche collaborated on an HBO film, If These Walls Could Talk II, in April. Heche directed DeGeneres and Sharon Stone in the story of a lesbian couple trying to have a baby — a tale said to mirror the plans of Heche and DeGeneres.
Heche also filmed a three-month standup comedy tour by DeGeneres, which culminated with an HBO cable special that aired last month.
The decision to split doesn’t have anything to do with a third party, a source told the Daily News.
“The relationship just ran its course,” the Daily News quoted the source as saying. “It wasn’t working.”
DeGeneres reportedly is living in the couple’s Hollywood Hills home, while Heche has been “staying with friends.”
Heche and DeGeneres’s very public affair was first revealed shortly after DeGeneres used her ABC Ellen series to come out of the closet. In April 1997, more than 36 million people watched DeGeneres’ character reveal herself as a lesbian. The show guest-starred Laura Dern.
Shortly after the landmark episode, DeGeneres said she was romantically involved with Heche. The couple were openly affectionate and soon became one of Hollywood’s most famous couples, and certainly its most famous same-sex one, reported ABC online—Albawaba.com.
