A defense lawyer for Saddam Hussein's co-defendants was killed and another wounded on Tuesday when gunmen opened fire on the vehicle they were traveling in, in western Baghdad.
The death of attorney Adil al-Zubeidi, and injury of Thamer Hamoud al-Khuzaie came not long after another defense lawyer was killed last month. Saadoun Al Janabi was shot fatally just one day after Saddam's trial began, according to Reuters.
Saddam's lawyers called on Monday for his trial to be transferred to a location outside of Iraq where their lives would not be endangered by defending the former Iraqi leader.
Saddam faces charges of crimes against humanity along with seven others.
