APC Announces Second Generation Symmetra PX – All-in-One Modular Power Protection UPS System for Data Centers
Newest Version of World-Class Power Protection System Enhanced with Increased Power, Runtime and Distribution Scalability in a One-Rack Footprint
APC by Schneider Electric, a global leader in integrated critical power and cooling services, today announced the release and availability of the Symmetra PX48, the second generation of its award-winning Symmetra PX all-in-one redundant power protection UPS system for data centers. With a 140 percent increase in power density and increased efficiency, the newest version of the industry leading Symmetra PX UPS provides up to 48kW of power protection for 400V deployments in a single rack footprint. Additionally it offers longer life batteries with up to 25 percent more runtime and hot scaleable power distribution. These new capabilities enable the second generation Symmetra PX to extend the product family’s reputation as the leading power protection system providing high levels of availability at the lowest overall total cost of ownership.
Operating at 95 percent efficiency, the Symmetra PX is based on APC’s patented Double Converter Technology that offers the highest efficiency of any double conversion UPS on the market, allowing for lower power and cooling costs and the ability to maintain efficiency down to loads of 35 percent. As an element of APC’s Efficient Enterprise™, designed to reduce power and cooling costs through modular scalable solutions, the new Symmetra PX is a fully manageable component of the complete data center solution and offers an innovative integrated modular design enabling user configurable power distribution, as well as expansion and servicing without forced shutdowns.
“Designed to address the increasing shortage of data center space, Symmetra PX serves as the core power train that drives APC’s InfraStruXure® on-demand architecture,” said Christian Bertrand, Regional Director, Business Development & Support, APC – ME & Turkey. “With increased power in a more compact design, companies can determine their exact power needs and meet them without exceeding them, thereby experiencing a decrease in both initial capital and operating costs.”
The second generation Symmetra PX 48kw All-In-One (AIO) replaces the existing Symmetra PX 20kW AIO and the Symmetra PX 40kW and, in addition to the new benefits, offers all the features customers have come to expect from the Symmetra PX including redundancy and scalability. The second generation Symmetra PX is currently available in 400V Regions: Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Pacific, Asia, Australia and Latin America.
