The Aqaba Container Terminal (ACT) inaugurated the region’s first internet café in the terminal area to serve the crew of the vessels that go ashore.
Mr. Awwad Al Ma’aytah, General Director of Aqaba Port Cooperation inaugurated the café with the attendance of Mr. Patricio Junior, CEO of ACT and a delegation from the Mission to Seafarers as well as a number of concerned persons
“We wanted to offer a distinctive service to the seafarers, one that allows them to stay in touch with their friends and families by utilizing the different communication methods available at the relaxed and cozy café,” said Mr. Patricio Junior, CEO of ACT.
The café is equipped with a sound isolating system to provide silence and tranquility for its users. It is also provided with two personal computers connected to the internet service, two prepaid phones, and a library with valuable books, in addition to a round table for reading or meetings. Furthermore, the café is supported with an air conditioning and heating system.
“ACT is always keen on providing value added services for its clients in order to enhance its leading status. We really hope that our café will be of benefit to our valued customers in the place where people make the difference,” Junior ended.
Aqaba Container Terminal:
Aqaba Container Terminal Pvt Co. (ACT) is the only Jordanian container terminal. It is a major gateway for the Jordanian market, as well as for transit cargo moving to and from other countries in the region. In 2006 a 25 years JV contract was signed between Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC) and APM Terminals International, agreeing that the new ACT Pvt Company will operate, manage and market ACT.
ACT is committed to providing a world class facility for its customers, and continuously looks for further enhancements and developments. This has already resulted in a number of upgrades to the facility and its equipment.
