Arab League Chief Nabil Elaraby called for Islamic State extremists to be confronted militarily and politically, AFP reports.
“What is needed is a clear decision for a comprehensive confrontation, militarily and politically,” Elaraby said Sunday at a meeting of Arab foreign ministers.
According to AFP, one diplomat said ministers were considering adopting a resolution on combating Islamic State militants and coordinating with the U.S.
President Barack Obama recently outlined a plan at a NATO summit for a broad coalition to defeat the Islamic State.
