Palestinian President Yasser Arafat held talks on Tuesday with Sudanese President Omar Bashir in Khartoum, reported Reuters, quoting Palestinian ambassador to the Arab League Mohamed Sobeih.
He told Reuters that Arafat briefed Bashir on marathon Palestinian-Israeli peace talks in Camp David that ended in failure last week. Arafat is currently on a world tour to drum up support for his stance in Middle East peace talks.
"He has to see all the Arab leaders, to discuss Jerusalem and all the other issues," Sobeih said.
Sources said that Bashir reiterated his government's continued support to the "legitimate" right of the Palestinian people to an independent statehood, reported AFP.
Arafat earlier discussed the 15-day summit with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika after meeting Tunisia's Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali in Tunis and Morocco's King Mohamed and Jordan's King Abdullah in Rabat.
Sobeih said Arafat was due to arrive on Wednesday for talks with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak in Alexandria, said Reuters - (Several Sources)
