Palestinian President Yasser Arafat has said that Iraqi President Saddam Hussein will not take part in the forthcoming Arab summit in Amman on March 27.
In a statement to the Saudi daily, Okaz, Arafat said, “we don’t think he is attending this summit.”
In the October 21-22 Arab summit in Cairo last year, President Saddam deputized Vice President Izzat Ibrahim. Hussein has never left his country since the 1990 Gulf crisis.
Meanwhile, Arafat told Okaz that he is not likely to visit Baghdad because “the present circumstances do not allow me to make the visit.” – Albawaba.com
