Palestinian President Yasser Arafat arrived in Tunisia Monday on the latest leg of a tour of Arab countries and informed President Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali about details of the Camp David Israeli-Palestinian summit that broke down last week.

After Camp David ended in failure on July 25th largely over the Palestinians' demand for sovereignty over east Jerusalem, Arafat started an information tour that has already taken him to Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Morocco.

An official quoted Arafat as stressing after his meeting with Ben Ali the seriousness of the negotiations "on the holy places of Islam and Christendom, including Islam's third most holy place, which are not the property just of the Palestinian people but also of all the Arab nations, Muslims and Christians of the entire world."

Arafat is due to end his tour of Arab countries in Syria, where he will meet the country’s new President Bashar Assad - TUNIS (AFP)
