AUB and CMC sign Memorandum of Understanding

The American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and Clemenceau Medical Center affiliated with Johns Hopkins International (CMC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) today to establish a new collaborative effort that sets the principles of cooperation between the two medical institutions. The cooperation will focus on several aspects, both clinical and academic, that will help AUBMC and CMC enhance their delivery of the highest quality care possible.  The two institutions will team up on several levels, including the creation of centers of excellence, developing quality standards in healthcare, and collaborating on medical and educational activities.
 
“Excellence and relentless commitment for high quality patient care are deeply instilled in the institutional cultures of both AUB and CMC, and this is personified in the physicians, nurses and staff,” said Dr. Mounes Kalaawi, CEO of CMC. “With this collaboration, the two institutions will enhance the work for their strategic plan to be at the forefront of medicine and deliver the highest quality of health care." He added: “By signing this MOU with the AUBMC, Clemenceau Medical Center affiliated with Johns Hopkins International, which is currently collaborating with the LAU medical school, aims to enhance its role as a leading institution for academically-driven innovations in clinical service, medical education and research. We are very proud to continue our commitment and deliver our promises to lead and improve the quality of health care in Lebanon and the region.” “Congratulations on this great accomplishment, it speaks to amazing dedication. Both institutions have much to be proud of”, said Maher Abughazaleh, Chairman of Clemenceau Medical Center.

Dr. Mohamed Sayegh, the new Vice President for Medical Affairs and Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Center of the American University of Beirut said: “Today is a historic day that sets the stage for future collaboration between AUBMC and academic institutions in Lebanon and the region.  Clemenceau Medical Center is recognized as a regional leader in innovation and excellence and by such collaboration,  AUBMC will continue to lead the way in building the academic bridges to excellence in health care, teaching and research”. AUB President Peter Dorman said: “"The historic MOU concluded between AUBMC and the Clemenceau Medical Center is consistent with the aspirations of both institutions to achieve the very best in patient care in Lebanon and the region, to develop synergies among physicians and staff that will promote the advancement of medical knowledge through research, and to provide the best in medical training for students and residents.”
