The American University in Dubai enrolled its security guards in a Security Practitioner Training Course offered by the Security and Administration Sciences Institute of the Dubai Police Academy. Such decision was undertaken by the University’s Administration as part of its ongoing plan to cater to its employees’ corporate welfare.  The training period commenced on the 23rd of March and was concluded on the 4th of June where each week two AUD security guards attended the five-day duration course. The course was instructed by prominent figures specializing in safety measures and customer care service and received great turnout by employees from the security industry presenting various institutions and companies of diverse corporate profiles across the UAE.
On the vital benefits of the course, Mr. Tammam Tannous, AUD’s Security Supervisor, comments:
“The Dubai Police Security Training Program triggers the teamwork spirit in employees. It is crucial to enhancing the ethical standards, effective communication methods and customer service skills security guards must possess in applying safety measures and security regulations while attending to the wellbeing of the AUD campus and its community. AUD is proud to announce that its security office  is now officially licensed by the Dubai Police Headquarters Department of Protective Systems to carry out the duties and responsibilities like any other locally recognized security agency registered with Dubai Police.”
The course’s disciplines covered a wide array of modules on the overview, purpose and mission of the security industry, showcasing the role and responsibilities, functions and qualities of a security guard. The modules instructed include: Effective Patrolling, Professionalism and Customer Care, Effective Communications, Access Control, Types of Searches, Emergency Systems and Procedures, Dealing with Emergencies and Crime Scene Preservation, Requirements for Dealing with Fire and Safety, and First Aid and Casualty Assessment.
Upon satisfying the security training requirements and standards set by the Academy and their completion of the training course, the AUD security guards were awarded certificates attesting to the official recognition of their office by Dubai Police as a full-fledged security agency in the country.
