AUD students participate in Dubai lynx academy

Students from The American University in Dubai have recently been selected to participate in the first Dubai Lynx Academy, a permanent addition to the Dubai International Advertising Festival, offering an educational program during the 3-day event. 

Among the 20 students from across the MENA region, Hend Raafat Ahmed (Business Administration), Chadidja Barkat (Business Administration), Anika Marya (Visual Communication), and Irene Boghdady (Visual Communication) from AUD have the opportunity to enjoy their own unique master-classes and tutorials given by top industry figures which will further enhance their learning experience.

Additionally, the top three students will be offered four-weeks work experience in a Leo Burnett office.
Expanding their knowledge about the advertising and communications industry, as well as being accompanied by a tutor, this year’s participating students will enjoy exclusive lectures from top international advertising professionals. The Academy’s activities will culminate in a graduation ceremony.
According to Dr. Lance de Masi, AUD President, “the need for reinvention in the communications industry is an old story. I have long thought that nothing is more transformative than the application of young, innovative, tech-savvy minds to the several tasks at hand”.
He continues, “the Lynx-Leo Burnett partnership is praiseworthy in that it provides the student participants a tangible opportunity for a life-changing experience, while giving testimony that the future of the industry lay with the generations to come. The latter seems so obvious, but oftentimes action is neither commonplace nor substantive.”   
The 2nd Dubai International Advertising Festival incorporating the Dubai Lynx Awards, The Middle East and North Africa Advertising Awards for Creative Excellence, will be held 15 - 17 March 2009 in Dubai, UAE. Presented by Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival together with their regional partners, Motivate Publishing, the Dubai International Advertising Festival is held with the support of Dubai Media City (DMC) and in association with the UAE Chapter of the International Advertising Association (IAA).

The 2nd Dubai International Advertising Festival will bring to the Middle East and North Africa a series of high profile seminars, workshops, exhibitions and screenings aimed at giving creative inspiration, learning and networking opportunities to the advertising and allied industries in the region.
The 3rd Dubai Lynx awards, which are part of the Festival, will honour creative excellence in TV/Cinema, Print, Outdoor, Radio, Direct Marketing, Media, Interactive and Integrated advertising. High-profile international jurors will award the coveted Dubai Lynx trophy to establish the definitive standard for creative excellence in the MENA region.
