Badr Jafar named ‘Energy CEO of the Year’ at CEO Middle East Awards

Badr Jafar, Executive Director of the Crescent Petroleum Group of companies and Executive Chairman of Gas Cities LLC, has been named 'CEO of the Year – Energy Sector' at the 2010 CEO Middle East Awards held in Dubai. The panel of judges chose Jafar for "demonstrating commendable entrepreneurial prowess in the energy sector". The Award was presented during a prestigious ceremony held yesterday at the Armani Hotel in Dubai.

The CEO Middle East Awards were established to appreciate, celebrate and reward industry leaders, high achievers, innovators and other outstanding individuals for their achievements within the Middle East region.

Badr Jafar, who was also named 'Young CEO of the Year' at the 2009 CEO Middle East Awards, was acknowledged for his achievements in the Energy sector and for his ongoing demonstration of leadership and commitment to advancing the strategic goals of the organisations for which he is responsible.

On receiving the Award, Jafar said: "I would like to thank ITP the organizers for this Award. It is an honour to be recognised by the judges, the business community and my peers as having excelled in this area, particularly given the extremely high caliber of business leaders in the region, and I will continue to strive for excellence across all levels in all of the companies with which I am involved."

Jafar added, "A special thanks to all the loyal members of the Crescent Group family for their hard work and dedication, without which these achievements would not be possible."

In addition to his role as Executive Director at Crescent Petroleum, Jafar serves as CEO of Crescent Investments, a strategic investment firm with wide and diversified operations and interests in a multitude of industries. He is also the Executive Chairman of Gas Cities LLC, a joint venture between Crescent Petroleum and Dana Gas, and Chairman of Pearl Petroleum, a joint venture between Crescent Petroleum, Dana Gas, OMV of Austria and MOL of Hungary.

Badr Jafar is a graduate of the University of Cambridge, holding a Master's Degree in Engineering and a Business Degree from the Judge Business School of the same university, where he also sits on its Alumni Advisory Council.
