Bahrain’s Prime Minister, Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, has called upon leading international oil and gas companies to offer their bids for prospecting in the southern and eastern parts of the country by the middle of next month in preparation for carrying out drilling work, reported the Bahrain Tribune newspaper on Sunday.
Sheikh Khalifa, who is also head of the supreme oil council, said “the call follows the ICJ verdict confirming Bahrain’s sovereignty over its islands and territorial waters, and in implementation of the directives of His Highness the Amir, Shaikh Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa.”
The paper added that the council agreed to contract a legal technical company to study and evaluate the companies’ offers, and prepare a detailed memorandum to choose the best and most suitable one – Albawaba.com
