An E-Trade $2 million center in Bahrain will be launched to cater for its clients’ needs in the region, Bahrain Tribune reported Thursday.
The Commerce One Middle East (COME) announced Wednesday that it will set up a Center of Excellence in Bahrain and termed it a "step towards making Bahrain the region's IT hub," the daily said, referring to Bahrain as the third country to have this type of training and support infrastructure to facilitate on-line trading.
"We are investing over $2 million in this project which will provide training and support to our region-wide partners and clients as well as project management, customer service, pre-sales support and supplier adoption," Abdullah Hussain Professional Services Director of (COME)
Abduallah Hussain, Professional Services Director at Commerce One Middle East was quoted by the paper as saying that "the volume of on-line trade is estimated to grow to between $1.5 and $3.5 trillion by the end of 2003. In terms of GDP, the countries in the region will be doing about seven percent or even more of their trade on line."
