GETEX Autumn 2009, the education show offering students access to universities enrolling students for early 2010, was opened yesterday (Saturday, October 31, 2009) by Dr. Alawi Hashim Al Hashimi, Secretary General of the Higher Education Council of the Ministry of Education, at the Diplomat Radisson SAS Hotel in Manama, Bahrain, with more than 75 universities from all over the world offering a diverse range of in-demand academic options and career-enhancement programs to students from the GCC. The Bahrain leg of GETEX Autumn, which closely follows the successful run in Dubai, concludes on November 2, 2009.

More than 350 academic programs from leading academic institutions and training centres around the world are being presented during the two-part education fair. GETEX Autumn also features a series of seminars and interactive counselling sessions that are designed to help students identify the best career path and academic options available for them at the event.

Anselm Godinho, Managing Director, International Conferences & Exhibitions (IC&E), organisers of the event, said, "The demand for world-class academic programs has increased dramatically over the years primarily because of greater accessibility to prestigious universities and training centres all over the world. GETEX Autumn has played a major role in the ongoing trend by creating awareness and opening a convenient gateway for GCC students to enrol in world-class educational institutions. The excellent response we have received from students, parents, the academe and all other stakeholders in the education sector has established GETEX Autumn as an important resource and networking platform for students and academic institutions in the region."

GETEX Autumn is a free-to-visit event that reaches out to learners, educators and trainers in its mission to promote excellence in the education sector. More than 7,000 participants are expected to attend GETEX Autumn, while a variety of academic and vocational courses, scholarships, counselling sessions, seminars and workshops have been lined up for the event.

The topics covered by the special seminars and counselling sessions include "Advantages and disadvantages of enrolling in the Spring term"; "Advantages of studying in the UAE"; “Securing admission in institutions abroad"; "Financial planning to realise educational goals"; "Importance of internships"; and "Understanding individual potential".

GETEX Autumn also offers advice on rules and regulations for those who want to study in the UK, Canada, USA, Australia and other countries. GETEX Autumn is complemented by the Excellence in Engineering Forum in addition to the student counselling sessions. Excellence in Engineering Forum gathers graduating engineers and technical students who will interact and discuss career challenges and opportunities with experienced industry professionals, decision-makers and recruiting firms.

GETEX Autumn Dubai is supported by silver sponsor Hindustan University and bronze sponsor EDHEC Business School, while patrons of GETEX Autumn Bahrain include diamond sponsor Bahrain Polytechnic, gold sponsor Ahlia University, and bronze sponsors Hindustan University and EDHEC Business School.
