Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa warned Thursday of the dangerous situation the Arab region is going through, noting that "The (Arab) nation is in danger and there is a need for a responsible awakening."
Speaking to Egypt's Al-Ahram newspaper, Hamad said that the activation of the role of the Arab League encourages moderation and containment of extremity and terrorism.
The Bahraini leader demanded that Arabs in the coming period should take into account "the importance of agreeing on developing joint action methodologies within the League."
He encouraged the "crystallization of a general vision of reform and internal rebuilding in a way that expresses the independent will of our leaders and people, and rekindles Arab solidarity."
The Bahraini King cautioned that the Palestinian issue "could remain in the tunnel it is in, if we do not put in effect the initiative made by the Saudi Crown Prince Amir Abdullah to achieve peace." He added that the road map only points to the shape of the road "while the initiative of Amir Abdullah points to end of the road and its long-term goal of comprehensive and just peace."
