Bangladesh's national flag carrier Biman is to lease a McDonnell Douglas DC 10-30 aircraft from a US company for three years, officials said on Friday, reported (AFP)
The agreement was signed Thursday by Waliul Haque Khandaker, director of the Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and Troy Toller, vice president of the Pegasus Aviation, a subsidiary of the US-based Pacific Aircorp. Inc.
"The procurement is to raise Biman's capacity and maintain our schedule," a Biman official told AFP, adding the company also wanted to expand its international network.
Biman, now looking for a strategic partner to sell 40 percent of its shares to under a partial privatization plan, flies to 25 international destinations.
It currently has 14 aircraft, including six DC-10-30 and Airbus 310. Two of its British-made Advance Turboprop (ATP) aircrafts were grounded and there are plans to sell them – (AFP)
