Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak is postponing his trip to the United States by one day because of a political crisis facing his coalition and an escalation of violence in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories, a close aide said Thursday.

Barak will leave in the early hours of Monday, 24 hours later than scheduled, the aide told AFP on condition of anonymity.

"Barak decided to postpone his trip because of the situation in Lebanon and the Palestinian territories and in order to give himself time to resolve the current coalition crisis," the aide said – OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (AFP)
