Barclays Wealth, a global wealth management institution, has donated a bus to the Special Care Centre in Abu Dhabi to transport children from their homes to the Centre. Barclays Wealth is dedicated to supporting and working in partnership with organizations such as the Special Care Centre, that are committed to helping and providing education to students with special needs.
Whilst handing over the keys to the bus, Soha Nashaat, CEO of Barclays Wealth, Middle East and North Africa commented, “We are honoured to offer this bus to the Special Care Centre, an admirable organization that provides educational opportunities for challenged children and young adults, allowing them to play a fuller role in their communities. We hope this bus will assist in facilitating the Centre’s daily operations and in bringing a positive change to the lives of the children and their families. ”
The Special Care Centre, an accredited organization registered with the Ministry of Social Affairs as an Establishment for Disabled Care and Rehabilitation, has run an educational facility for the past 20 years. In May 2008, an initiative was launched to build a new campus for the special needs children of Abu Dhabi. The non-profit organization practices a holistic, developmental and psycho-educational philosophy, which takes into account the needs of the child as a whole, looking beyond a disorder.
“We are very grateful to Barclays Wealth for supporting us and donating this bus to our Centre. It is organizations such as Barclays Wealth, with their encouragement and recognition, that help us to continue the work that we do,” added Nisha Thomas, Head of Education and Training at Special Care Centre.
Last year, 57’000 employees across the Barclays Group and from 31 countries got involved in community activities and volunteer programs, such as “Make a Difference Day”. This initiative is run by Community Service Volunteers (CSV) and encourages employees to donate their time to make a positive difference in their local community.
