Batelco Wins Two Award at Prestigious Regional Event
The Batelco Group has won two awards at the inaugural SAMENA Regional Awards 2008 which took place in conjunction with the “Convergence to Jordan” summit at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar at Dead Sea, Jordan, on November 3rd and 4th.
Joseph Hanania, Chief Executive Officer of Batelco Group’s Jordanian company Umniah, collected the awards at the prestigious ceremony on behalf of Group CEO Peter Kaliaropoulos.
Mr. Hanania said that he was honoured and delighted to accept the awards on behalf of the Batelco Group.
“Our strategy to remain technically innovative, while keeping the needs of our customers’ in the forefront has proven to be successful,” he said.
Batelco won awards for Best Fixed 3G, 4G, Wireless Broadband – WiMax, HSDPA, UMTS, LTE and Best FMC “Convergence” Operator, in the Architect Award category. The Architect Awards are presented to those who have introduced and implemented new technologies enhancing performance.
Most of the major telecommunications operators, solution and content providers in the SAMENA (South Africa, Middle East, and North Africa) region were represented at the event. Also in attendance were the Minister of ICT, Jordan, H.E. Bassem Rousan and the Head of Jordan’s Telecommunications Regulatory Commission (TRC) Dr. Ahmad Hiasat.
As the region’s premier telecommunications umbrella organisation, SAMENA Telecommunications Council strives to continuously provide expertise and guidance, promote telecom innovations and facilitate networking opportunities between member companies.
The Awards were judged by a high profile panel of telecommunication experts and the winners were rewarded at an elaborate Gala dinner attended by senior executives and personalities from the MENA telecommunications industry and other VIPs.
