Five other people are in custody amid a new round of police searches in the regions of Brussels and Liege, Belgian prosecutors say.

Police have now detained 21 people for questioning since Sunday, amid a search for terrorism suspects.

"All items seized during the house searches are currently being examined," the statement added, noting that 26,000 euros ($27,621) were found during one of the searches.

It also says that a BMW vehicle which fled from police on Sunday in the region of Liege was identified and that "there is no link at all with the ongoing operation." There had been reports that a key suspect in the Paris attacks had fled Belgium in a BMW on his way to Germany.
