The Bordeaux-based Except Series band and its choreographer Hamid Ben Mahi have completed its weeklong stay in the French Arts centre of Oran, Algeria. The stay in Algeria included a number of performances and workshops.
Hamid Ben Mahi was born in France, of Algerian parents. In 2001, he founded Except Series band and started to perform in France and abroad. Ben Mahi was granted scholarships for the school of Rosella Hightower in Cannes and then Alvin Ailey in New York.. There he learned the various dancing styles.
