ALBAWAHA - In Alberta's Jasper region, wildfires have wreaked havoc, leaving cars melted and homes reduced to ashes.
According to photos published by the BBC, the wildfires, which have been burning since July 19, have spread to the popular tourist area of Jasper National Park, causing extensive damage.
The fires have forced the evacuation of around 25,000 people in Alberta and destroyed 358 out of 1,113 structures in Jasper National Park.
Jasper Mayor Richard Ireland, who lost his home to the flames, expressed that only memories remain and that many others are facing similar losses.
The intensity of the wildfires is evident in the photos, showing melted cars and homes turned to ash.
Officials have indicated that the cause of the fires is still being investigated. Firefighting teams have been utilizing cooler weather and rainfall to manage hot spots.
Authorities warn that temperatures are expected to rise again starting Monday, with 48 wildfires in Alberta still uncontrolled.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that firefighting teams from South Africa, Australia, Mexico, and New Zealand will be arriving to assist in combating the fires in Alberta and British Columbia.
