Blazers Blaze Jazz in Game 5

Scottie Pippen shot a monster 3-pointer with 7.3 seconds left as the Portland Trail Blazers blazed past the Utah Jazz with an 81-79 victory in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinal series Tuesday at The Rose Garden in Los Angeles. 

Pippen finished with 23 points, nine rebounds and eight assists as Portland took four of five from Utah in the best-of-seven series. 

The Blazers will meet the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference finals. 



Shaquille O'Neal scored 15 points and 21 rebounds and Kobe Bryant added 17 points to help the Los Angeles Lakers routed the Phoenix Suns 87-65 in Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals. 

The Lakers ended the series and will face the Portland Trail Blazers in the conference finals Saturday at the Staples Center. 

The two teams last met February 29 with each club entering with an 11-game win streak. The Lakers won and lost only four games after that while Portland hit a slump and lost the home-court playoff fight to Los Angeles - (Several Sources)
