The Moroccan newspaper Le Matin ran a special feature on the 'conflict of civilizations' and offered some hope that North Africa and South America can build a strong partnership. A South American think tank is organizing a conference to discuss cultural issues in the past and present relevant to North Africa and South America.

The conference will talk of how Arab civilization has actually influenced South America via the Spanish and Portuguese tradition and how their colonial pasts have elements in common. The aim is to increase cultural cooperation especially between the two countries that are leading the effort, Brazil and Morocco.
