Militants staged a gun and grenade attack on a police station in the Istanbul district of Bayrampasha, but there are no casualties, CNN Turk reports.

Two female militants are trapped in a building following the attack in the Bayrampasha district of Turkey's biggest city, the television network said Thursday.

According to Turkish daily Hurriyet, the militants attacked at a checkpoint outside the building and security forces then responded by firing upon the pair.

Turkish special forces units were sent to the area and are in the midst of an operation to dislodge the two women barricaded inside the building. No group has yet claimed responsibiity for the attack, however militants from Daesh and the PKK have recently carried out similar attacks on the city.
