bringing state-of-the-art telecom services to the sultanate - all preparations in final stage as renna gears for launch

renna (Majan Telecommunication LLC), the Middle East’s first Mobile Reseller, has announced the successful completion of thousands of test calls and text messages with the deployment of Intelligent Network (IN) technologies and billing systems from pioneering global providers HP and Convergys. Committed to creating value in the Sultanate’s telecom industry, renna is adopting world-leading technology to provide customers with a unique product and service offering in its signature style, which is expected to launch next month.
“We are working with the world’s best companies that share our vision of transforming the telecommunications industry in Oman, enabling us to deliver our promise to customers,” stated Niklas Nielsen, renna Chief Executive Officer. “Our value-added approach is unlike anything available in the market today which entails our own tariff plans tailored to cover specific and segmented needs.”
He added, “The state-of-the-art integrated solutions provided by HP and Convergys will ultimately provide high flexibility, user friendliness and modern services to our customers.”
Frank Sherlock, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Convergys International Business Unit expressed, “renna has a requirement to differentiate them from the competition by offering innovative services that define their brand and drive customer loyalty. Convergys assisted with the deployment of an end-to-end flexible and quick-to-launch Service Provider solution to support renna’s vision and strategy.”
Nielsen went on to say that a team of experienced professionals from HP, Convergys and renna has worked tirelessly to bring the Company’s vision to life by assembling a technical platform at its head office in Muscat and integrating it with Oman Mobile's systems. Several high-capacity data communication lines have been installed in order to connect the core telecommunication systems of Oman Mobile with those in renna's telco grade hosting facility. From the onset, renna has ensured compliance with the high standard hosting facilities of “Telco grade” requirement stipulated for Class II Mobile Resellers by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).
Several weeks ago, renna successfully completed its first test call on its systems. Elated with the progress to date, Nielsen said, "After several months of preparation, it is fascinating to see our own operator logo ‘renna’ in the mobile phone display for the first time which coincidently occurred during one of our board meetings. Our Chairman Ahmed bin Saif Al Rawahi made the first call on renna's own systems which was another milestone and a truly memorable moment in the Company’s history."
Since then, technical teams have made substantial progress so that call testing is now finalized. "The teams have by now made hundreds if not thousands of test calls and text messages in order to ensure that the systems are fully functioning,” clarified Nielsen. “This phase is now complete and we are now finalizing some of the last details related to international roaming.”
He added, “Once again, I must applaud Oman Mobile for genuinely embracing the Mobile Reseller phenomenon. Their technical teams have been working relentlessly, which is a prime example of teamwork and the foundation of our relationship."
renna will sell SIM cards and recharge cards through  innovatively branded shops and an extensive dealer network across the Sultanate. With a customer-centric approach, renna will serve customers from its own Customer Care Center which will be manned by highly-qualified and intensively trained Omani nationals.
Nielsen concluded, “A new era is dawning on the telecommunications industry in the Sultanate and we are very excited to say that the wait is almost over, renna is coming soon!”
