European governments, alarmed by North Korea's moves to reactivate its nuclear facilities, urged its leaders to allow U.N. monitors to return to the country. Britain said it supports Washington's concept of stiffer economic sanctions.
A British Foreign Office spokesman said Foreign Secretary Jack Straw had discussed North Korea in a phone call with Secretary of State Colin Powell on Monday.
In Pyongyang, North Korea showed no willingness to ease tensions over its nuclear weapons program, vowing Wednesday to build an army-based "powerful nation" to counter a possible U.S. invasion. (Albawaba.com)
