Burj Al Arab has introduced a modern and unique style of bartending with the recent launch of ‘Mixology’ in Sky View Bar.
The Mixology trolley is a fully functional mobile bar which glides from table to table as two trained mixologists concoct tailor-made cocktails for guests. The mixologist asks a sequence of questions to establish the guest’s tastes and will then make a recommendation based on their excellent knowledge. As each guest is different, so will the cocktails. Each guest can give their cocktail a name and the mixologist can note down the ingredients so the guest can take it away with them to enjoy all over the world.
Mixology is a relatively new concept and has emerged from the theory that the correct mixing of liquid ingredients can form a totally balanced drink. Approached in a very scientific way, a mixologist uses experience, knowledge and understanding of products as well as interpreting guest tastes and requirements to create a drink that excels guest’s expectations in both taste and presentation.
“As Dubai’s bars are primarily in hotels, table service is common practice in most establishments. This is convenient for the guest but the downside is that the interaction between the guest and the bartender is lost. A guest’s requirements can become diluted as the drinks order goes from the guest to the waiter to bartender and back again. This is why we have created the
unique Mixology concept. Guests can still enjoy table service and sit back and relax while we come to them and mix a completely unique cocktail that perfectly suits their tastes,” said Dan Purnell, Sky View Bar Manager.
Luc Delafosse, General Manager of Burj Al Arab, said: “Burj Al Arab is unique in so many ways and it is only fitting that the hotel’s cocktail bar now offers a unique and exclusive beverage experience to our guests. It really is a personalized service that exceeds guest expectations.”
