Republican candidate George W. Bush said Wednesday he was confident of being declared president of the United States once a recount of the Florida vote had been completed, reported AFP.
"If confirmed in an automatic recount as expected, it will be then that we will win this election," Bush told a press conference in Austin, Texas.
He said former secretary of state James Baker would be dispatched to Florida to represent the Bush camp during the vote count, which was already under way.
According to the CNN, Bush was about 2000 votes ahead of Al Gore at Florida recount at 2 p.m ET (19:00 GMT) -- (Several Sources)
