Republican George W. Bush held a slim 45-42 percent lead over Democrat Al Gore in a survey of registered US voters in the presidential race released Saturday by Newsweek.
The survey showed Green Party candidate Ralph Nader with four percent and Pat Buchanan of the Reform Party with two percent.
Bush had a more significant 49-41 percent lead among "likely voters" in the survey and Gore held a 32-29 percent advantage among "swing voters" who had not made up their minds but expressed a preference for the vice president.
A week earlier, the same survey had given Gore an identical lead of 45-42 percent over the Texas governor.
The survey by Princeton Research Associates polled 1,002 registered voters, including 818 who said they were likely to vote, from October 25-27. Newsweek stated the margin for error as plus or minus three percentage points -- NEW YORK (AFP)
