Commercial actor Nicolas Cage is close to signing a contract to star in an eccentric movie based on a novel by Susan Orlean, The Orchid Thief, reported Variety magazine.
The movie tells a story within a story about a screenwriter suffering from writer’s block. In a Cyrano de Bergerac-style twist, the scribe asks his imaginary twin brother to assist with the project, which eventually becomes a huge theatrical success.
Adaptation should suit the deeply twisted director Jonze and writer Kaufman fine, but we’ll reserve judgment on Cage’s now-questionable talents.
Meryl Streep is reportedly interested in the role of real-life author Orlean, according to Variety—Albawaba.com.
