Etisalat reaffirms its commitment towards Emiratisation for the year 2010 as highlighted by Abdul Aziz Al Sawaleh, Chief Human Resources Officer at Etisalat. This year will witness a significant rise in the Emiratisation rates within Etisalat and the Human Resources Department in Etisalat is dedicated to following the vision of the company’s Board Members, who announced multiple initiatives that will be carried out this year such as increasing the number of UAE nationals working in Etisalat.
Etisalat reiterated its Emiratisation plans during it participation at the Careers UAE 2010 taking place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 28 – 30 March 2010. During the show, Etisalat will identify the job opportunities provided by the company for talented UAE national graduates.
Al Sawaleh also ensured that Etisalat is well on its way to accomplish its target and is set to attract a larger number of the national talent pool. The company will also provide candidates with professional training to allow them to actively participate and contribute in achieving the company’s goals.
“As one of the largest national companies, Etisalat provides UAE nationals with special opportunities, facilities and training. Etisalat trains and recruits a large number of UAE nationals every year and today, more than 3600 Etisalat employees are from the UAE – which is 36% of the total Etisalat staff count. 75% of higher management positions constitute the UAE nationals. Amongst Etisalat’s senior management team, 95% originate from the United Arab Emirates.” he added.
Etisalat’s participation in this exhibition is to demonstrate its commitment towards Emiratisation, and to activate the initiative which was launched by the Board Members, who announced 2010 as the year of Increasing Emiratisation and Excellence in Customer Care.
Etisalat has always played an important role in preparing and developing specialized national talent who hold leading positions in the telecommunication in the UAE and the region today.
“Etisalat will attend recruitment fairs across the country to present its many departments, openings and training courses that are available to both, university and Higher Colleges of Technology students. This reiterates the company’s efforts to provide opportunities to UAE nationals,” Al Sawaleh continued.
Etisalat has developed training programs for high school graduates, HCT and university graduates, which last from one to two years. These training courses equip the trainees with required skills for a fulfilling career at Etisalat. The company also organizes extensive training programmes for its existing employees. More than 6000 personnels from Etisalat staff attend the Etisalat Academy and other external training centers every year.
Etisalat deeply believes that every UAE citizen has a critical role to play in the society. That is why the company has adopted a strategy based on three main principles which includes; motivating staff, creating a healthy work environment to ensure that employees remain in their jobs, and preparing qualified nationals who are able adapt to the latest technology developments.
To achieve these goals Etisalat has developed recruitment programmes that include the training and recruitment program for high school graduates, the direct recruitment program, the recruitment program for the universities and higher college graduates, the academics scholarship program for postgraduates, the employment program for technical diploma trainees and the employment program for the IT trainees.
