The Community Development Authority in Dubai (CDA) organised a two-day training session for its employees on “Sign Language” aimed at strengthening awareness on people with hearing impairments.

Held at CDA’s main offices in Dubai, the session was held in line with CDA’s strategy of enhancing social awareness about people with disabilities and special needs. The objective of the session was to remove the barriers between people with hearing disabilities and the mainstream in order to achieve communication and social integration.

His Excellency Mr Khalid Al Kamda, Director General, said: “The Community Development Authority is keen on developing the skills of its employees to aid them in meeting the requirements of people with disabilities and special needs thus communicating effectively with them and integrating them within the society. The authority will seek in the future to organize more workshops for all segments of the society.

“Sign Language” is used widely on a global level to facilitate interaction with people with hearing impairments and those who lack the ability to communicate verbally
