Cellucom, premium distributor and retailer of mobility products and one of the fastest growing retail chains in the GCC region, is growing its presence in Qatar with the opening of its newest showroom in Qatar’s capital city. The Doha City Centre showroom has been launched to tap the growing potential in Qatar’s booming mobile phone market. This initiative follows the agreement which Cellucom entered into in Qatar, with Toshiba and Sony Ericsson, for the distribution of notebooks and IT peripherals and mobile phones respectively. The showroom was inaugurated on 2nd August, July 2006 by Mukkul Shyam, COO, Cellucom.

Mukkul Shyam, COO, Cellucom said, “The launch is a part of our expansion drive and investment program in Qatar. The telecom and IT market here is upbeat and exciting, given the increase in the number of mobile phone and PC notebook subscribers and their demand for innovative devices. Opening Cellucom showroom in Qatar is a step towards making ourselves more accessible to our consumers with a wide range of mobility solutions.” He further added, “Successful retail depends on the ability to identify what a customer looks for to add value to a quality product. Cellucom recognizes this element and is aiming at increasing its retail footprint by 100 to 250 outlets by the end of 2007 in GCC.”

On Cellucom’s expansion plans in Qatar, Mr. Shyam said, “We already have our showroom on the Al Mirqab street, Doha. This is the first time we are opening a showroom in a mall in Qatar. Consumers can expect a refreshing experience here and walk out with complete satifaction. We are also joining hands with Family Food Centre and opening kiosks there. One of the kiosks will open today at Al Reyyan. Cellucom aims to drive wireless mobile connectivity in the Middle East and that can only be achieved if consumers receive the right advice and are shown how to get the most from their mobile.”

Commenting on the launch, George Thomas, General Manager, Intertec group said, “The telecom sector is gearing up in Qatar. Today’s consumer is very informed and wants to be provided with the latest mobile devices and the best service available which will help him stay connected. We have been partnering with Cellucom since long and are certain that they are very current with the latest trends in enabling mobility.”

A dynamic organization, Cellucom has set up fully equipped showrooms that provide high-quality service and fresh content regularly. Products and services that Cellucom offers includes the latest range of mobile phones, PC notebooks, PDAs and enhancements, expert guidance from the staff, who keenly interact with consumers and on-site technicians for repairs.
