Chadian President Idriss Deby announced here Wednesday that parliamentary elections will be held in March with a presidential poll to follow in June or July.
Deby, a former defence minister, came to power in 1990 after leading an insurgency against then president Hissene Habre.
His government forces have been battling rebels since October 1998 in the northern Tibesti desert region. The rebels want Deby to resign – GENEVA (AFP)
