The Chalhoub Group is partnering with 'Dubai Cares' for its 2010 "School Feeding Campaign" which commenced in Ramadan and will be running until end of November 2010. With 72 million children worldwide not attending school, and another 66 million going to class hungry, school feeding programs increase enrolment rates and children's learning capacity while in class. Through 67 participating stores in the UAE, the Chalhoub Group is committed to help raising funds to provide children with access to nutritious food at schools, by asking each customer to add AED 5 or more to their purchase for the Dubai Cares "School Feeding Campaign".
"One of the pillars of our CSR Programme, CHALHOUB IMPACT, aims to support and improve children's access to education. Since 2009, the Dubai Cares campaign appears as a unique period, for both our retail teams and our customers, to come together and fight poverty-related issues," says Patrick Chalhoub, co-CEO of the Chalhoub Group.
Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Cares said, "Limited accessibility to quality education among children in developing countries is a significant issue affecting their progress. As part of our endeavour to provide integrated education solutions, Dubai Cares strives to eliminate the main underlying issues that prevent access to basic primary education, which is every child's birth right and the foundation of sustained economic growth, sound governance and effective institutions."
