The Rashid Paediatric Therapy Center has raised Dh500,000 at a charity dinner and fashion show, which took place at the Holiday Inn Hotel Dubai Wednesday evening for the creation of a specialized center for treating children with learning difficulties, according to Khaleej Times.
The event was held under the patronage of Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation, and Chairman of Emirates airline. Shaikh Ahmed is the Chairman of the Rashid Paediatric Therapy Center.
Mariam Othman, the Center’s Director, told reporters that the money raised at the event was intended for the construction of a brand new Learning Difficulties Center at its new location in Barsha, which is currently under construction.
Othman said that total construction costs for the new Barsha place is roughly Dh12 million. The total amount of money, including the funds raised on Wednesday night, amount to Dh8 million.
Guests at the charity dinner and fashion show were invited to purchase bricks for the building. Each brick was priced at Dh1,000, to help raise the required Dh500,000. Guests could buy as many bricks as they wished.
Shaikh Juma bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum inaugurated the charity dinner and fashion show, which included the beautiful designs of Lebanese born, international fashion designer Nichola Jubran and the latest jewelry collection from Damas Jewelry.
Furthermore, a documentary film on the new building in Barsha was also screened along with a documentary on the latest jewelry collection from Damas. Following the auction of bricks and a raffle draw, guests enjoyed entertainment by prominent Gulf and Arab singers, including Rashid Al Rashid, Abeer, Hamza Al Ajamy and Ziyad. (Albawaba.com)
