China Tuesday expressed deep concern over the violence in the Middle East and joined other diplomatic voices in calling on both Israel and the Palestinian authorities to exercise restraint.
"China expresses deep concern over the escalation of conflicts between the Israelis and the Palestinians," foreign ministry spokesman, Zhu Bangzao, said.
"We strongly urge the parties concerned to exercise restraint and stop taking any action or making any remark that is detrimental to the peace process."
Zhu said the China Red Cross Society was preparing to send aid and emergency humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian territories, after 12 days of street battles that have left up to 100 dead – BEIJING (AFP)
