New Year's Day will witness the opening of a new covered swimming pool in the Moroccan city of Fez, funded by the Chinese government. The pool will be in the Al Adarissa area of the city, by the famous Al Adarissa mosque. The Moroccan economics newspaper, <i>L'Economiste</i> reports that it took 22 months to complete and cost 27 million DH. The pool covers an area of 1.513 m2.
China has already funded another two swimming pools in line with an agreement signed by Morocco and China. The other locations are Kenitra and Marrakech.
