Indiana authorities have confirmed the death of professional golfer Chris Smith’s wife following a car accident on Interstate 69 near Angola, Indiana.
The Angola Fire Department announced Sunday that Beth Smith, from Peru, Indiana died instantly when her SUV crashed into a Greyhound bus carrying a Canadian semi-pro football team. The crash also left Smith’s two children severely injured who were immediately transported by helicopter to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne where they remain in critical condition.
Beth Smith was reportedly returning from a Father’s Day visit with her family in Toledo when the accident occurred.
Chris Smith, the winner of the 2002 Buick Classic, has been competing in the PGA since 1991.
