At least two Palestinians were wounded in violent clashes with Israeli soldiers that erupted Wednesday in the West Bank town of Bethlehem after a demonstration held in support of Palestinians jailed by the Jewish state.

Soldiers fired rubber-coated steel bullets and cans of tear gas to disperse some 150 Palestinian youths who threw stones at them and set fire to tires in the street.

Protests in support of the some 1,600 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails were also held in Gaza City and the West Bank town of Ramallah without any reports of incidents - (AFP)
