Alan Bani Odeh, cousin of slain Hamas activist and the main suspect in his assassination, has made a full and detailed confession to the Palestinian preventive security forces regarding the operation, which apparently involved Israeli Intelligence, sources told Albawaba.com Saturday.

Palestinian security men managed to capture 24-year-old Alan from Tammoun village in the West Bank city of Nablus in record time after he fled the territories to Israel following the assassination on the 23rd of November of Ibrahim Bani Odeh, one of the leaders of Hamas military wing, ‘Izzeddine Al Qassam.’

The source, who demanded anonymity, added that the suspect, who stayed in a five star hotel in Jaffa, was tricked out of Israel into the Palestinian territories where he was captured by the Palestinian Preventive security forces who later interrogated him.

The suspect confessed that he monitored the movements of his cousin Ibrahim Bani Odeh based on orders given to him by the Israeli intelligence (Shabak), the source added.

Alan enjoyed a close relationship with Ibrahim. Ibrahim used to borrow Alan’s car to run some errands.

According to Alan, the Shabak called him, he went there in his car, and according to him, Shabak members booby-trapped his car and placed the bomb in the headrest in the driver’s seat without his knowledge.

Alan had known that the Shabak intended to assassinate or kidnap his cousin, yet he denied that he had any knowledge that they were going to use his car in the conspiracy, the source added.

Alan used to report back to the Shabak everytime his cousin borrowed the car.

The suspect admitted that the Shabak had arranged his stay in a five star hotel in Jaffa, and gave him a monetary reward.

The suspect was told that his case was closed and that it was safe for him to go back to the territories, and that is why he felt that it was safe to go back to the village of Rummanah in Jenin where he was captured by the Palestinian security.

For his part, Attorney General Khalid AL Qadwah, told Albawaba.com in a phone interview that the suspect’s file will be submitted to the court, adding that the suspect will enjoy all of his “legitimate rights” in court.

Several Palestinian groups have repeatedly demanded a public execution of Alan in the same spot where his cousin Ibrahim Bani Odeh was assassinated.
