ALBAWABA- Colombian President Gustavo Petro has declared his intention to sever diplomatic relations with Israel in response to the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza and its disregard for international calls for a ceasefire and an end to the blockade on the besieged strip.

This decision follows President Petro's repeated condemnation of Israeli crimes and his summoning of the Colombian ambassador.

The announcement comes after President Petro's earlier threat on March 26 to cut ties with Israel if the country failed to comply with a United Nations Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
