Creations’ Gets into Full Swing

The second day of DSF Signature event, Creations, showcased the work of young and successful Emirati designer Rabia Z. Of Afghan origin, Rabia Z’s classic Middle Eastern-style creations combined sensitivity with style; classic with modern; and used innovative approaches to re-interpret traditional fashion. Rabia’s focus of liberating the active Muslim woman was evident in her feminine designs that were original yet functional, catering to the needs of the modestly dressed woman with creative style.
The second half of the evening belonged to International Couture designer, Aiisha Ramadan. Born in Lebanon, Aiisha impressed the crowd with her flowing western-style haute couture designs that used exclusively produced French and Italian silks, lace and Swarovski crystals.
‘Creations’, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, was conceived as a showcase for talented amateur fashion designers from the UAE and the region to showcase their work in Dubai alongside international fashion designers from around the world. From 23 - 30 January, fashionistas can come to Observatory, BurJuman at 6.30pm and 7.45pm to admire the latest in Haute Couture and Ready-to-wear fashion creations.
Next in line to wow the Dubai fashion crowds is Indonesian designer, Oka Diputra. Oka’s signature is creating cuts and styles that will fit a wide range of sizes using Asian silhouettes. Based in Bali, Diputra’s creations are sold in exclusive quantities in six countries, namely the USA, Spain, Italy, Greece, Brazil and Australia.
Sharing the fashion stage will be the Department of Fashion Design of Preston University Ajman that recently acquired the latest pattern making and fashion design software to elevate the quality of learning in this faculty. Their investment has yielded some impressive achievements including top awards at Bride Show Dubai, Tasmeem Doha and Nivea Beaute’s design competition.
